Dr. Richard Katz graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed his residency in Anesthesiology at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)., with his Pediatric subspecialty training both at UCLA and Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He is board certified in Anesthesiology. Dr. Katz has been in private practice for more than 30 years, has taken care of thousands of patients and has held many department chairman and executive positions with Associated Anesthesiologists Medical Group, Medical Anesthesia Consultants, Sheridan Anesthesia Service and Envision Physician Services. While at Envision, he served as a Regional Medical Director of Anesthesia for California , where he oversaw and helped develop the anesthesia practice at over 15 hospitals and 30 surgery centers. Dr. Katz was also an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Stanford and is a General Anesthesia Evaluator for the Dental Board of California. He co-founded Bay Area Mobile Anesthesia with Dr. Vu Huynh in 2011. After 30 years as a hospital-based Anesthesiologist, Dr. Katz now exclusively works with BAMA seeing only dental patients. He also does consulting work for medical practices, dental practices and surgical facilities. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking the hills and road trips in the Western US.
Dr. Shelley Wu graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and first did a residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) before pursuing a career as a Pediatric Anesthesiologist. She then completed her Anesthesia residency and a Pediatric Anesthesia fellowship at UCSF. She is board certified in Anesthesia, Pediatric Anesthesia, General Pediatrics, and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She has been a practicing Pediatric and General Anesthesiologist for over 10 years while having first been a General Pediatrician and Pediatric Critical Care Physician. Dr. Wu also has a master’s degree in public health (MPH). She continues to take care of patients at several Bay Area hospitals and is the mother of two children.
Dr. Vu Huynh graduated from University of Illinois College of Medicine and then completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and his Pediatric Subspecialty training at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He is board certified in Anesthesiology. Dr Huynh has been in practice for more than 20 years. He has served as a managing partner of Associated Anesthesiologist Medical Group, was the Anesthesia Department Chairman and served on multiple hospital committees at Regional Medical Center of San Jose. Together with Dr. Katz, he co-founded Bay Area Mobile Anesthesia in 2011. Dr Huynh has been very passionate about applying American Society of Anesthesiology safety standards to office-based anesthesia. He now practices exclusively with BAMA seeing only dental patients. Dr. Huynh is spends his off time traveling with his wife and young family.
Dr. Namratha Madapu graduated as general dentist from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India and emigrated to the US to explore more opportunities. In 2012 she attained a dental degree from Boston university school of dental medicine and practiced general dentistry for 3 years in Seattle treating a large population of adult and pediatric patients. During her practice treating patients with dental anxiety, she realized her passion for providing best the dental care for patients in a relaxing and safe environment. She pursued a residency in dental anesthesiology and graduated from Wyckoff Heights Medical center Brooklyn NY in 2019. Since then, Dr.Madapu has been practicing anesthesia serving patients in San Joaquin county. She is a member of American Dental Association (ADA), California Dental Association (CDA), Southern Alameda County Dental Society (SACDS) and American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists (ASDA).She lives in the Bay Area with her husband and two young children.
Dr Ashish Desai graduated from Ross University of Medicine and then completed his residency in Anesthesia at Medical College of Wisconsin. He later completed a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Stanford University. Dr. Desai is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology. He has been in practice for over 15 years as a general and pediatric anesthesiologist. He was the Director of Ventura County Anesthesia Medical Group as well as their Director of Pediatric Anesthesia Services. He has a special interest in caring for children with facial deformities and has been actively involved with medical mission work on multiple continents. Dr. Desai continues to see patients in hospitals as well as dental offices. He and his family recently moved back to the Bay Area from Southern California where they will enjoy seeing old friends.
Dr. Mazid graduated from Touro University California and completed her residency at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. Following her residency, she pursued a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. Dr. Mazid holds board certifications in both Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology.
Before joining Bay Area Mobile Anesthesia in January 2024, Dr. Mazid dedicated over five years of her career to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera where she also served as Department Chairman during her last two years. Her commitment to the medical field began during her undergraduate years at UC Berkeley where she volunteered at a hospital. Her passion for pediatric anesthesiology grew significantly through her involvement in the Operation Rainbow medical mission program, where she provided care for children in need of orthopedic surgeries in Honduras and Nicaragua.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Mazid values spending quality time with her husband and two young daughters.
Dr. Hasandeep Mann graduated from MGM Medical College in India. He was in practice as a General Resident Physician for four years before he emigrated to the US. He completed two years of General Surgery residency at State University of New York, Downstate (SUNY), before completing his Anesthesiology residency also at SUNY. He then completed his fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia and Pain Medicine at the University of California Davis (UCD). Dr. Mann has been a practicing General and Pediatric Anesthesiologist for over 5 years and he continues to serve patients at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Sacramento. He has two young children.
Dr. Smitha Kanaparthy graduated from the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry, India. completed a residency in anesthesiology and critical care at JIPMER. she worked at very well-known tertiary care centers in India. She came to the US in 2008 and completed her residency in anesthesiology at Hahnemann University Hospital, Drexel University, Philadelphia pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center. Her work experience after fellowship spanned academic centers at OUHSC and Yale University and a private practice group at Valley Children’s Hospital, Fresno. She is board-certified in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology. She has over ten years of experience exclusively as a pediatric anesthesiologist. Her areas of interest are pediatric difficult airways, anesthesia in non-OR settings, and resident education. She believes in lifelong learning and the integral role of physicians in clinical care and leadership. has completed a faculty leadership program at OUHSC and programs with the Yale School of Business—Health Care Management and Women’s Leadership at Oxford School of Business. She enjoys providing much-needed, safe, and evidence-based care to pediatric patients for dental care in office-based settings. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. They enjoy traveling and exploring beautiful California.
Dr. Jeffrey Poage graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and first did a residency in Pediatrics and a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He then followed his passion to become a Pediatric Anesthesiologist by completing his residency in Anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital, fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia at New England Deaconess Hospital, all affiliated with Harvard University. Dr. Poage is board certified in Anesthesiology, Pediatric Anesthesiology, General Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, and echocardiography. He has been in practice for over 30 years and has held many department chairman positions, served on several hospital and healthcare boards, has lectured extensively about general topics in pediatric anesthesia and pediatric anesthesia in dental offices. As a former president of the California Society of Anesthesiologists he is still very active politically and has been involved with the state legislature to develop safety protocols for office anesthesia and dental office anesthesia. Dr. Poage continues to see patients both in dental offices and in medical facilities. He has two teenagers.
Dr. Sabo received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from University of Alberta, Canada in 2008. After practicing clinical dentistry for 2 years, she realized that her passion was helping patients with the stress of dental treatment. As a first step toward becoming an anesthesiologist, she first did an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery 2010 – 2011 at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She then went to New York to pursue her dental anesthesiology specialty degree at Saint Barnabas Hospital where she was a chief resident and which she completed in 2013. This advanced training provided her with the ability to not only understand but also to predictably treat various patient populations who are unable to undergo dental treatment in a conventional manner under local anesthesia. She had a deep understanding of the special needs population since one of her children has autism. As a mother to a special needs child, she is devoted to helping other children and adults with the same diagnosis who must undergo complex dental procedures. She understands that the treatment and expectations of the these patients and their families can be very different from a neurotypical population in a dental setting. Dr. Sabo serves as an office anesthesia evaluator for the Dental Board of California. She also owns and manages her own general dental practice, and her husband is an oral surgeon. Between the two of them they have a very large experience treating dental patients for various dental problems. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children outdoors in San Francisco playing tennis, going to Warriors games and skiing.
Dr. Dustin Coyle graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine. He was always interested in Pediatric Medicine, so he completed an internship in pediatrics prior to his residency in Anesthesiology, both also at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He is board certified in Anesthesiology. Dr Coyle spent three years as a staff Anesthesiologist at Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Salt Lake before returning to The University Of Utah as an Associate professor where he stayed for the next 13 years. He then moved to Southern California where he has been in private practice before joining BAMA. Dr. Coyle has held multiple leadership and administrative positions throughout his career and also has an interest in medical mission work having travelled to several continents to provide care for the underserved. He continues to take of care patients in hospitals as well as dental offices. When he is not working, Dustin enjoys spending time with his wife and fully grown children seeking out new adventures in Southern California.
Dr. Claire Hargrove grew up in Austin, Texas. She attended Rice University and University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She moved to New York City for Anesthesiology Residency at New York Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center. She completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles before moving to the Bay Area in 2005. Since then, she has practiced pediatric anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital Oakland and at pediatric dental offices throughout the Bay Area. She is Board-Certified in Anesthesiology.
Dr. Hargrove lives in San Francisco with her husband and two children. They enjoy going to Warriors games, skiing and snowboarding, and foraging for mushrooms. She is passionate about providing a safe and comfortable experience for children requiring anesthesia.

She later completed a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Cheng is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology. She served as the Director of Pediatric Anesthesia at Maimonides Medical Center in New York before moving to California. Since being in the Bay Area, she has been practicing for over 25 years at UCSF Children’s Hospital Oakland and served as the co-director of the pediatric acute pain service for many years. Dr. Cheng continues to provide anesthesia for pediatric patients in many settings including hospital, surgery center and dental office. She has two grown children and enjoys playing tennis in her spare time.
