
Dr. Chester Ho-Yin Chan is a board-certified anesthesiologist who brings a diverse background in technology and education to his medical practice. After earning his undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington, Dr. Chan pursued a passion for teaching by completing a Master of Science for Teachers and serving as a high school teacher in New York through Teach For America. He then transitioned to medicine, receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan and completing his residency training in Anesthesiology at UCLA, where he was elected to serve as Chief Resident.
​With a career that spans both clinical practice and healthcare innovation, Dr. Chan has a particular interest in health informatics and patient safety. He has served as a HealthConnect Champion and a Perioperative Optimization Program Champion, focusing on streamlining medical records and ensuring patients are in the best possible health prior to elective surgeries. In addition to his clinical roles at the Southern California Permanente Medical Group and the Greater Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center, he has contributed to medical education as an admissions interviewer for both the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine and the University of Michigan. Dr. Chan is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care while utilizing his technical expertise to improve the surgical experience for every patient.
